BIOGRAPHY

Alison Thomson commitment to her art is total. Born in Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland, she has been painting and exhibiting successfully since graduating from Dundee’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art.

Alison’s bold colourful unique paintings and mono prints achieve a balance with rhythmic harmonious compositions, strong iconography and beautiful bold colours. Her strong personal iconography has evolved out of everyday objects and the nature around such as buildings, bikes, animals, leafs, flowers and landscape. Alison simplifies and stylises, using strong expressive colours and bold compositions.

As well as painting, Alison has also turned her talent to painting murals and working with handmade felt and incorporating various materials. Some of her work involves the use of gold and silver leaf as she feels this gives a precious feel to each piece.

Alison is an acclaimed Scottish artist whose work adorns many private and public collections.

Alison Thomas is a working artist based at Courtyard Studios, Irvine Harbourside, Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland. Alison studied textiles at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee from 1992-1996.
